Grade 4:
The Language Arts program covers four main areas; reading, language, handwriting and spelling. The Math program develops and expands concepts introduced in the primary years. In Social Studies, children study First Nations People and the first European explorers of Canada and the B.C. The Science program includes units on space, weather, mechanical forces, and biology. The Art program helps develop
knowledge and skill in the visual arts.

Grade 5:
The Language Arts program includes detailed novel study as well as language, handwriting, and spelling. A math highlight during this year is creating 3-dimensional shapes in geometry. The focus in Social Studies is on Canada learning about our forest resources and management, and exploring communication and government. In Science, the program provides opportunities to classify animals, and to explore the interdependence of living things and their habitats. It also provides experiential projects in the topics of changes of matter, geology, the human body, weather, and climate. Art study provides further experiences in techniques in visual arts using various media.
Grade 6:
In Language Arts, through text and novel study, students concentrate on developing sentence, and story writing knowledge and skills. Problem solving, collecting, organising, and classifying data continue to be emphasised in Math. In Social Studies, students are introduced to some basic principles of biology, astronomy, and physics. Visual art continues to be emphasised.

Grade 7:
Language Arts reading is based on the Ginn text and four novels. Math builds upon concepts from previous grades as well as adding new areas of study. Some areas of concentration are: number theory, bases and exponents, decimal/fraction, negative integers, statistics, percent, problem solving, and algebra. Social Studies covers the early origins of Western Civilization starting from primitive man, then Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Athens, Sparta, and Rome. Science covers nutrition, physiology, water, ecosystems, pollution, and insects. Art is a cursory introduction to the concepts of colour, shape, lines, and mood. Painting, drawing, and cutting are the skills used in lettering, collage, and poster making. Included is a brief sample of past artists and their styles.
